Hi-ce and the Detroit Public Schools have received the Urban impact Award for their pariticipation in LeTUS for affecting middle school science learning from the Council of the Great City Colleges of Education in the Great City Schools. The Urban Impact Award recognized outstanding school-based projects, conducted by university faculty in collaboration with a school that have had a positive and significant impact on teaching and learning. The award recognizes the true and long-lasting partnership between Hi-ce and the Detroit Public Schools, for making a difference in student learning.

March 16, 2004 - Prof. Moje Awarded NIH Grant
Hi-CE Faculty Member Elizabeth Moje has been awarded a multimillion dollar grant from the National Institutes of Health. Her project, "An Examination of the Social and Cultural Influences on Adolescent Literacy Motivation and Development".

April 1, 2001 - hi-ce Presentions at NARST and AERA
Faculty and students from hi-ce traveled to Vancouver, BC and San Deigo, CA to present at the annual conferences of the National Association for Research in Science Teaching (April 1-4) and the American Educational Research Association (April 12-16).
